With the following information, we wish to inform you as regards the data of Jimdo users, that Jimdo collects and process and of course, when we delete this data. In order to fully understand the Jimdo data processes and your obligations and rights as a Jimdo user please first review and ensure you have signed the Jimdo Data Processing Agreement. The Jimdo DPA regulates the rights and obligations of the Jimdo user as a data controller for their website, as well as the rights and duties of Jimdo, the data processor in that respect. The following information is intended to help our users with the practical implementation of the Jimdo DPA.
Jimdo collects, processes and uses the following personal data of Jimdo users(in accordance with the definitions of the German Federal Data Processing Law(BDSG)) and the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in order to provide the Jimdo services:
When visiting a Jimdo page, the Jimdo servers automatically save the information that the browser sends when that page is visited. This information includes the following:
- the call (request)
- the IP address (anonymized)
- the browser type
- the browser language
- the date
- the time of day
Deletion of Log Information
All of the above information is used for analyzing and maintaining the technical operation of the servers and network as well as assisting our anti-abuse measures as a whole, pursuant to Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR and our legitimate interest in improving the stability and functionality of our websites. Log-Information is automatically deleted after 7 days.
Please note that Jimdo is not legally obligated to keep a detailed activity log of Jimdo site users’ activities. Therefore, we do not track when, where and which exact changes have been made to a Jimdo page. For example, we do not track when and where on the website content was created, modified or deleted.
Fee-based Jimdo products
If you use any of our fee-based Jimdo products we store the following personal data on you:
- The name you entered for your Jimdo account.
- The e-mail address you used to create your Jimdo account or page (s) and your subscription to the newsletter.
- Your company name (optional)
- Your first and last name
- Your full address
- Your telephone number (optional)
- Your/The company’s tax number
- The contents of your Jimdo page
- Your data for the registration of domains
- Your payment details
- Your support history
The data provided by Jimdo User in connection with the order process (e.g.name, address, account number, bank code number, possibly credit card number, invoice amount, currency and transaction number), as well as the detailed order information shall be passed on to the payment service provider selected by the Jimdo user pursuant to Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR. The transferring of the data to the payment provider takes place exclusively for the purpose of performing the payment transaction.
Deletion of Contractual Data
Accessing, Reviewing and Correcting the Data you Provide
- Sign in to your Jimdo account.
- Click on your profile in the menu,
- Here you can see your registered name and all saved email addresses.
- In order to access and review your data, please first select the page(and contract) in question
- At the bottom of the menu in the dashboard, click on the three dots next to the domain name.
- Select "subscription" to see the data of the subscription owner i.e. the contracting party.
- Please note that the change or correction of the contract data can be carried out here ->menu- > subscription -> Update your contract details.
- Select "Invoices" in order to view your old invoices for your Jimdo package.
Information and Access
The Jimdo user can usually access, verify and edit their personal information in their Jimdo account by logging in and directly updating or deleting the appropriate information.
If you would like further information concerning your personal data, that is saved by Jimdo, please send a message from the email address registered to the Jimdo website in question to email@example.com.
Providing Information to your customers or visitors
If you run a online shop via your Jimdo site or if you have a contact form on your Jimdo site, or if you use Google Analytics and/or set cookies, you are probably processing personal information. In accordance with the GDPR and European Data Protection Law, as well as the Jimdo Data Processing Agreement(DPA) you are considered a separate and independent "controller". As described in the Jimdo DPA this means that you are responsible for upholding the rights of the data subject and in particular to comply with the duty to inform and to enable the persons concerned to exercise their right of objection. The rights of the data subject must be upheld and maintained vis-à-vis the Controller i.e. the Jimdo user.

Messages sent via the Contact Form
The information that your customer or your website visitor has sent to you via your contact form, canbe viewed by you in the form archive of your Jimdo website. Click Menu> Settings> Form Archive. Here you can view the email address, the site from which the request originated and the date or time when the request was sent to you.
The IP address of the message sent via the contact form is not be saved by Jimdo.
As regards customers and interested parties who wish to exercise their rights to e.g. information and access, the Jimdo user is the responsible body for the protection of data subjects’ rights. For more information, please see the Jimdo Data Processing Agreement. The storage and/or deletion, as well as the provision of information on shop orders is entirely the responsibility of the Jimdo user, who is a separate and independent "controller" of the data.
With that in mind, please note the following point taken from the Jimdo terms of Service: The Jimdo Shop Solution does not meet the requirements of the Principles for Duly Maintaining, Keeping and Storing Books, Records and Documents in Electronic Form and for Data Access (GOBD). In other words the Jimdo user, as detailed in the Jimdo Terms of Service, is responsible for the storage of data in accordance with the applicable legal requirements. In particular those pertaining to commercial and taxation law as well as accountancy and bookkeeping.
The data that is transmitted and stored in the context of a shop order can be viewed under Menu> Shop> Orders. The IP address of individual shop orders is not stored by Jimdo.
Payment details are not stored/viewed or accessible by Jimdo. These data are stored at the respective payment service provider.
The Jimdo statistics function are based on Google Analytics and collect data solely for the statistical evaluation and technical optimization of the user's website.
The following data is collected via the Jimdo statistics function:
- Referrer website
- Requested webpage
- Browser type und browser version
- Operating system used
- Used device type
- Time of access
- IP address in anonymous form
Information requests from your Customers and Site Visitors
If one of your customers or site visitors wishes to access information about the personal data that you store on them, please review the instructions as described above and locate the relevant information in the administration section/login area of your Jimdo website.
In the statistical data collected by Jimdo (“jimdo Statistics function”), the IP address of the visitor is anonymized. Therefore it is impossible to relate or attribute this data unambiguously to one particular person and as such, no information can be provided.
